In the south you just can’t beat the heat. Here is some Fall outfit inspiration on what to wear if you head down south during the fall months.
Growing up in the north fall was always my favorite season. Bonfires, cozy sweaters, spiced lattes, cool crisp air…. it’s a little different in the south. When October finally rolls around it will still be sun blazing hot at a crisp 90 degrees – 80 if you’re lucky. So I wanted to do some fall fashion outfit inspiration for all the southern gals out there or anyone who might be visiting during the fall season.
I can’t tell you how many southern fashion bloggers I see posting in giant thick sweaters…. I just sit and think to myself… “Honey, I know you’re walking around the same city I am, I know your not about to leave the house in that sweater and trench coat…” Drives me nuts. But also, cute outfit girl.
From September to about the end of October the key to beating the heat is to layer and mix length styles. For example if I am wearing a long sleeve shirt I will almost always pair it with a skirt or under a dress and if I wear jeans I typically will not wear boots with jeans until November when the temperature actually starts to drop below 70 degrees.
A big key accessory that might sound simple but easily forgotten, is to always have a pair of sunglasses in your bag at all times. Summer might be over but the sun is still a blazing so come prepared.
Be conscious of the materials you are wearing. If i wear a faux leather or corduroy I will try to keep it so that is only covering a portion of my body, for example this amazing faux leather skirt seen on me below. This skirt is faux leather which can tend to get a little warm, but stops right above the knee and I have paired it with a breathable sheer light material top and ankle booties. This allows my arms and legs to have a lot of breathing room which is a big factor on how I choose my outfits from September – November.
A key staple in my wardrobe for fall are blazers and denim jackets. Blazers offer an amazing layering piece over a what would typically be a basic tee and jean outfit.
